DIRECT TO GARMENT

Direct to Garment Explained:

1. A method whereby a printer directly applies ink onto a garment with inkjet technology.
2. Requires no screens, minimal space and there is no mess.
3. It only needs to lay down a small amount of ink to achieve a lot of detail.
4. A great method for branding smaller quantities.
5. The better quality the garment, the better the print will look.
6. Treating the garment beforehand allows the ink to attach to the fibres for a vibrant result.
7. Applications: Garments that are ready for Digital Garment Printing. The process of Digital Printing itself can however also be done on drinkware, as well as on bags.

1

The garment is pre-treated with a liquid. This can be done manually or with a machine. It is particularly crucial if the garment is dark.

2

The pre-treatment is then left to dry, either on a hanger or by means of a heat press.

3

Using a specialised program, the artwork design is then prepared. If the garment is dark, an extra layer of white ink is added.

1

The garment is then carefully loaded onto the machine and positioned in place. For the best result, the garment must be completely flat, as any wrinkles could ruin the entire process.

1

The operator then presses the start button and the printing process takes place.
